It's so nice to feel the LOVE in the air.... SPRINGTIME IN PARIS. Check out Beyonce (in a much better outfit) going on a stroll with her hubby Jay-Z. They dressed very casual, and even though Beyonce's nude Louboutins were far from that, her look came together flawlessly. This is very IN for Spring/ Summer 2011.
Big THUMBS UP to Bey. And how humble can Jay-Z be when he is spotted off-screen/stage? In these photos, he doesn't even look like he's worth north of $400 MILLION..... buthe is.
Update: Jay-Z is wearing a BALMAIN hoodie for roughly $950, and Beyonce's jacket is by Isabel Marant for approximately $2,400!
I was first introduced to Thierry Mugler when I rummaged through my mother's drawers and came across Angel. I hated it. My mother tried to pawn off the perfume on me but I refused - I just could not stand the smell! A couple of years later I started to complain that I did not own one single perfume. High school peer pressure at its finest made me want to purchase my own perfume bottle so that I could smell like a girly girl. But I was picky. After multiple sniffs in both Sephora and the Bay, I feel in love with one particular scene: Alien. Thus started my love affair with Thierry Mugler.
On March 3rd 2011 Theirry Mugler unveiled his Fall/Winter 2001 womenwearline in Paris, France. Nicola Formichetti's debut line for Mugler revealed a collection that was all about blank pantsuits, see-through shirts, peaked shoulders and ridiculously high platform stilettos. Each model got to strut her stuff down a runway littered with a forest of thick pillars crowned with pointed arches that resembled a Gothic cathedral. As an extra treat, Lady Gaga made her runway debut and she was FIERCE.
The pictures look fabulous, but I have to say that the actual show blew my mind. Great models, music and struts. Does anyone recognize a theme? Black /White - Good/Evil? ALSO Recognize any other models? Canadian born Coca Rocha also strutted the runway and I just have to say: Work it girl!
I will one day own the Chanel 2.55 in black caviar leather (although I do not know how I am going to justify spending $2300 dollars on a bag). But I'll think up of excuses when I get to the point of actually being able to afford the bag!
Getting to the point ...
I am always eager to see the Chanel runway fashions each season. On January 25th Chanel unveiled their new haute couture dresses at the Pavillon Cambon-Capucines in Paris.
And to be honest, I do not know how I feel about these dresses. Let's examine the evidence:
Pants underneath dresses (especially haute couture dresses) just seems a little off
Unflattering cuts paired with ruffles. Also I'm not feeling those black sleeves
Pants under skirts....really?
Tweed, tweed and more tweed! Oh my. Never been a big fan. I feel I'll rock the tweed when I'm 90 and still fashion FIERCE
Love, love, LOVE these jackets. Simple yet stylish.
The dress on the right is beautifully cut and the ribbons really emphasis (and flatter) the models body
What do you guys think of the Chanel S/S 2011 collection?
We love a good bit of fashion spectacle, and for SS10 the showdown was surely a dead heat between Alexander McQueen and Viktor and Rolf. McQueen's digitally printed minidresses were almost outshone by the incredible shoes, apocalyptic backstory and film prequel, while Vicktor and Rolf showed pretty much the most architectural pieces on the schedule, offset with a giant globe and the seasons' top musical cameo from Roisin Murphy. With 6 Elite London girls in McQueen (Constance, Charlotte, Kate, Yulia, Egle and Anastasija) and 3 in V&R (Olga, Constance and Egle) our loyaties are divided - we're just pleased that nobody did a Naomi on those terrifying heels!
