Have you heard about Coccolily?
“Naana is an inspiring Canadian designer with a beautiful vision for women’s clothing. I am thrilled that Shopgirls will be the exclusive retailer to carry her Coccolily spring 2011 line,” said Michelle Germain, owner and curator of Shopgirls Gallery Boutique.
Designed as luxury clothing that every woman deserves, Coccolily is Tennachie Yankey’s first private line. Born in Ghana, Tennachie Yankey got her start in fashion by interning for Marc Jacobs in New York. After studying Fashion Design at the Academy of Arts and Design in Montreal, she worked under designer Eve Gravel before starting her own line, Coccolily. This Spring season Tennachie Yankey experimented with vibrant colors paired with very flattering and sexy cuts.
It's really refreshing to see designers this season opting for subdued dresses that are simple yet refreshing at the same time. The patterns, colors and cuts are clean. But what makes the clothes unforgettable is the way that the designers add small touches to their pieces. For example, I love the simple white bow on the white dress (shown below). It transforms a rather bland dress into something original that is (in my opinion) drool worthy. The Coccolily dresses are perfect examples of pieces that are innovative but also completely wearable.
With such a fabulous collection, it's no wonder she has caught the eye of leading fashion editors, and has been featured in the pages of Elle, Canada and Flare!
