Strapped for cash? I love hunting for some amazing vintage pieces at local garage sales, I always find the most interesting bags and jewelery (and the prices are so low!) FASHION STEALS! The best place to find great finds at a low low price! So why not head over to the Great Glebe Garage Sale to help raise some money for a good cause and dig around for some hidden treasures. 

I am DELIGHTED to hear that the Glebe Community Association has set the date for the Great Glebe Garage Sale. Mark you calendars, the event is Saturday, May 28th 2011. As the date approaches, more info will start popping up! The combined effort of the Glebe community and the Glebe Business Group raised over $11,000 last year and they want to significantly increase this amount this year! All the money is donated to the Ottawa Food Bank. Great cause!

But the moment the association is looking for volunteers to join the cause:

• Interested in media? We need someone who could write a press release, handle inquiries from local community radio and print media outlets and find suitable interview candidates. A great experience for a budding journalist!
• Interested in public/community relations? Be a connector: Serve as liaison with the Glebe Business Group, City Hall, the Glebe Community Centre and local schools. If you’d rather work alone from home and on computer, you can respond to email inquiries and provide information on our neighbourhood and city to visitors and vendors.
• Interested in the issue of hunger in our community? Work with the Ottawa Food Bank volunteers to distribute information in advance of the sale to promote awareness about the work of the Food Bank, or canvass vendors and collect donations on the day of the sale.
