HOLGA - Tokyo - Shinjuku
This Tokyo trip my favorite exit from Shinjuku Station was the Southern Terrace. In terms of passengers per day this is one of the busiest stations in the world and I felt I had figured out one very very very small part of it....maybe 1/20 of its 200 exits. The Southern Terrace exits onto a walkway I have written about before. I like it because the walkway is very wide, open and I don't feel claustrophobic as I walk past tall buildings, Krispy Kreme, Starbucks and then over a bridge which goes over a multitude of train tracks to Takashimaya Shopping Center and Kinokuniya Bookstore. I used Velvia Fujichrome which is a slide film that I had processed as if it were regular film. Thus the intense colors.

MWK and train tracks.
More tall buildings and some leaves shot at another location. A technique one can do with a Holga camera is take a photo at one location advance 1/2 to the next photo and shoot it at a different place. Runon or overlap photo.
The "different place" from the above photo. A favorite house in a quiet Kita-Shinjuku neighborhood.

Thanks for the phrase Models.com...we couldn’t think of any other way to describe this fierce blonde! Welcome to London Madelene (wish you hadn’t brought the weather with you!)...
We’ve had the gorgeous Madelene in town for the last couple of weeks and we can safely say this girls feet have not touched the ground...well with a face and body like that who’s surprised!

A Princess wears white
White is simply elegant. Look at the future Princess of Monaco in this photo shoot for Tatler, looking comfortably chic in white. It reminds me of this other wonderful white outfit worn by Princess Victoria of Sweden here.
It would be easy to copy her look. The silk trousers are surprisingly affordable: only 150 pounds. I think the tricky part for us 'normal' people is: how to keep the white... white?!
She'll be marrying Prince Albert II on 2 July 2011. Her official title will be Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco!

Be positive
I'm sorting out some pictures so a quick post!
PS I'm so happy with my Lanvin tote!
Be yourself. The world worships the original.

Hello Japan! November Challenge
In Spring it is the Dawn is a blog about Japanese culture and literature I've recently discovered. Challenges are part of the blog and November's challenge is a meme with five questions to answer. Why not participate I thought. So here goes:
1. My favorite Japanese small city is Kamakura because the Daibutsu is located in this area
Daibutsu or Great Buddha at Kamakura.
and call me a philistine but I also enjoy the shops along Komachi-dori.
2. The best Japanese Museum I've seen this past year is the Munakata Shiko Memorial Museum in Aomori.
Munakata Shiko Memorial Museum.
Munakata Shiko was a talented artist from Aomori whose abstracts of local scenes and black and white prints are wonderful.
3. Japanese books, authors enjoyed and highly recommend to others.
The Dancing Girl of Izu by Kawabata.
4. Something Japanese that you'd like to try but haven't had the chance.
Kyoto cusine known as Kyoto-ryori which is a meal of tofu and yuba tofu dishes exquisitely presented and delicious.
5. Planning a visit to Japan, money is not a concern, what's at the top of your list to do?
Hashima Island. Located 12.4 miles (20 kilometers) from Nagasaki. When this coal mine island owned by Mitsubishi was abandoned in 1974 the 5,000 residents left. Now the abandoned island is a tourist attraction. One can visit specific areas of the island and take photos.

AFTERNOON SNOW SQUALL
Mid afternoon I looked out the window to see snow falling at almost a forty-five degree angle. Wow, I thought as I grabbed my camera and hurried outside. By the time I was outside the snow squall had passed by and the sun was coming out. The beginnings of winter... so of course I had to quickly take lots of photos....this is the first snow I've seen here this season. I kept my camera aimed low to the ground in hopes of making it look like more snow fell than really did.
Glad I took this photo before the sun melted the snow.
Really, it did look like more snow was falling than this.
Wow, nice contrast- snow with green grass.
This looks like more snow coverage.
I guess we don't need to shovel the driveway.
Why isn't this yard totally covered with snow.
Now this looks like more snow. Next time I'll just take close up photos.
Back inside Gotochi Kitty from Hokkaido was waiting to see my photos.
