Sir Charlie Stinky Socks
I love books. I think it would be more sensible to borrow books from a library but there's just something about having my own collection. In recent years I have been focusing on children's books; we have seriously gone from nil to a small library. How do I justify this? Books are educational. And I plan on keeping them for my grandchildren!

Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and the Really Big Adventure by Kristina Stephenson
This is an exciting and slightly scary book (great for boys) about a brave little knight who comes across beasties, a dragon and a witch. He doesn't fight them, though, you see. He's got better methods, such as singing a lullaby, sharing sandwiches or offering a drink.

More Snow - Part 2
Yesterday's early morning snowfall and 'draping' of the trees by was gone by 10:30 AM so I was glad I'd gone out early with my cameras. Friday I'd cleaned up the area where I keep my cameras and photo paraphernalia and found some colored Holga lenses which I'd been looking for. I took a blue lens with me on my second outing of the morning with my digital and Holga cameras. The Holga shots are being developed this week. The digital ones are here. I quite like the enhanced photos while my husband prefers the natural photos.
The lovely former Stonebridge Inn now a public building.
Water and ice covered with recently fallen snow.
Fluffy snow on bush branches along a local stream.
A snowy morning. The local stream is not usually this rapid. Using the blue lens, the rushing water and the white snow remind me of Japanese kasuri fabrics.
Another view of the local stream.

More Snow - Part 1
This morning we woke up to find more snow than had been forecast. That's what the three people I passed as I walked along Main Street at 7:30 AM said as a greeting. The bicycle in the first photo was parked in the street (unplowed part) in front of the local hardware store. It's diagonal parking on that side of the street so I guess the bike rider wanted to make sure he had a spot so got there very early.
The water in the small stream was moving very rapidly this morning.

What exactly is "my personal yoga challenge"?
I should probably explain.
One of my current and hopefully long-term obsessions is to become a yoga believer. A yogi, I think they're called.
That sounds sort of negative, like I'm trying too hard. For a lot of people, they seem to be converts after the first attempt.
That makes me a bit nervous because I don't think it's clicked yet. For the record, I am a complete beginner. I've only just started Kundalini Yoga and what I can say is that I like it so far.
But it hasn't changed me or my life YET.
From what I've heard and read, yoga can heal and strengthen the body and mind. It is exercise, it can calm you down and make you into a better person. It apparently becomes a lifestyle, if you want to embrace it as such. It sounds too good to be true.
There are so many believers out there that there must be some truth to it!
So here's my mantra.
Be open-minded.
Don't give up.

Holga - Driving Around
On a recent very cold day I drove around the countryside and took photos of some buildings I'd seen on a previous ride to a friend's house. I'd left my Holgas home that day. Inside my car I was so nice and warm I decided to roll the window down and take photos from the driver's seat. Lazy much.
A local farm I drive past several times a week.
Roy's Egg Shop.
I pulled onto a side road as I wasn't driving very fast and didn't want the driver of the car behind me to get mad.... so annoying to be stuck behind some poky driver when one has places to go, people to see, etc. Well, the real reason I pulled over was that I wanted to stop in the middle of the road in front of the barn and take a picture. I did mention lazy...
Barn and barn.
Downtown and a sign for the Woodchuck Festival at the local school.

MAC's Spring Colour Forecast 2 Blush Ombre
From the Spring Colour Forecast collection, this was the only face product that I felt I had to have... (the other one was the matching nail lacquer in Malibu Peach).
The Blush Ombre in Ripe Peach is a multi-toned blush in coral.
I swatched the colours separately first (the pale peach and darker pink), then swirled my finger around in it to get the pretty blossomy, sunset colour on the right. It looks really natural and fresh on my skin. Fab! Why do such great things have to be limited edition?
