Early Morning-Kita Shinjuku

At home I often wake up very early and being in Tokyo was no exception. One clear morning I went out with my camera and took some photos of the Kita-Shinjuku (North-Shinjuku) area where I was staying. This area of Shinjuku is residental and very quite.

Just after dawn and the moon had yet to set.

Someone else was up early and already their laundry was hung out to dry.

Sunlight on the side of another dwelling in early morning. The side streets are very narrow so the sunlight only shines on parts of buildings for brief periods of time. This morning I quickly walked along the streets kind of chasing the sunlight.

Gate to a traditional Japanese style home on the left and a view of an apartment building beyond their wall.

This vending machine is probably leased by some tenants of the building who split the profits from the machine.

A couple of men walking along Okubo Dori, the main street of this area.

My last early morning photo before I headed back to see if anyone was awake yet - early morning traffic along Okubo Dori, garbage waiting to be collected at the side of the road and the green overhead train tracks.
