In Between
Vermont is known for its colorful fall foliage, its snowy winters and green summers. However one doesn't wake up one morning and find fall foliage has become sparkling winter snow. In the fall we have a time when the landscape looks barren, the trees have no leaves, the temperature hovers above freezing and many days are overcast. These in between times have a understated beauty which I've come to appreciate.
This time of year the sun is low in the sky. I took these pictures at 2:30 PM.
Ice is just beginning to form on a local river, the trees are bare and the ground is covered with dead leaves.
This milkweed pod has burst open and it's "cotton" is caught on adjoining bushes.

Calif Prop 8-San Diego Protest-11/18/08- Holga
On November 18th between 20,000 and 25,000 people in San Diego marched in protest of the passage of California Proposition 8 which denies same sex couples the right to marry. I totally disagree with its passage and felt it was important to participate in the protest. I was glad I was San Diego that day. The pictures were taken with my Holga using fujichrome and I had the film cross processed.
People gathered at Balboa Park where the march began. Many people made signs to carry in the march.
The crowd beginning to gather together for the start of the march.
Clever signs convey the message that while Proposition 2 which is about the treatment of animals passed Proposition 8 which deals with how gay people are treated was rejected.
The weather was hot and sunny as it is most days in San Diego.
People carrying figures which were at the beginning of the march once it started.
