I was surprised when I walked into the Rideau Mall a couple of weeks ago and glanced upon a huge poster that read “Forever 21 coming soon.” It seems as if this city, once completely devoid of any large fashion chains, has been working overtime to catch up. In less than two years the downtown core has acquired a Zara, Michael Kors, Sephora, Urban Outfitters and a Forever 21. The only store that’s left is H&M! The construction for the Forever 21’s 16,000-square-foot store started in April. Upon completion, Ottawa fashionistas will be able to browse the store’s two floors, complete with an in-store escalator and three entrances. The new boutique will include 4,000 square feet across from Shopper’s Drug Mart on the first level of the mall, and 12,000 square feet directly above the old food court.
