SINGAPORE - ann siang hill park + orchard, 11/28/08

BECAUSE OF THE RIOTS...

in Bangkok, the international airport is closed! So instead of Thailand, I decided I'll visit Indonesia. I'll arrive on Saturday in Jakarta where I'll spend a few days and maybe swing by Bandung later on. I'm getting used to tropical heat, though. To be continued...

Blue Sky over Beige

The hilly area across the street from the apartment complex where I stayed in La Jolla looks more in keeping with the natural vegetation of this area than does the green grass by the apartments. The contrast between the adjacent areas is interesting. I was told the ocean is on the other side of the hill and I was temped to climb up the hill to see the view but didn't want to run into any wild life that might live on the hill.

I live in a state whose nickname is the Green Mountain State and am used to vibrant green several months of the year. When I first saw the beige dried grass I thought how dull but after a few days I found it attractive.

Another view of the grass covered hill.

Closer view.

Birds of paradise and green lawn at the apartment complex.

Tan grass against a very blue sky.

Houses at the top of the hill.

SYDNEY - bye-bye australia, paddington, 11/25/08

Australia has been a brillant adventure. I found on this continent more uniqueness and personnal creativity that I would have expected and more that I usually find on most of my trips. In the match Sydney vs. Melbourne, I'm afraid not to be able to decide who's the winner. Both cities have got a high standard of refinement, just in two different ways. Conclusion, I'll be back here soon.

FACEHUNTING IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

I'm gonna finally leave Amazing Australia on Wednesday and visit a few cities "nearby":
Nov. 26-28: Singapore
From Nov. 29: Bangkok
Hopefully I'll be able to survive to the heat...

Green and Beige with Blue Sky

People I know who move from the east coast to Southern California comment on the sameness of blue sky and sun most days of the year. I guess I might too if I did more than visit. I had fun taking pictures very early in the morning and felt I was being a considerate guest in that I knew there would be sun so I went out with my cameras and didn't wake up others. Hehe, this means my daughter wasn't obligated to get up and entertain me at 7 AM.

How clean and nice everything looks to my east coast eye.

I spy with my eye Fritz watching me.

A pool, lounge chairs and birds of paradise, wow!

The orange chairs on the deck look inviting.

Such big green leaves.

Across the black top of the parking area Fritz, the cat, looks over his domain.

Blue, Denim & Jackets- Holga

Looking through my photos of people in street scenes I noticed the popularity of the color blue. Denim colored clothes seem to be popular with all age groups. On the fall day I took these photos I was surprised to see so many people in denim jackets.

Denim clothed women with young children crossing a busy street in New York.

An older man clad in denim in New York's Chinatown.

A woman wearing a longer denim jacket shops on a Saturday morning in New York.

So many people dressed in blue at a local Vermont Chili Cook Off.
