Digital Blurs

Another storm today. It's gray outside but bright sun is forecast for tomorrow so maybe I'll be able to use my Holga cameras. I've become so used to their fast shutter speed that I sometimes forget to hold my digital camera still when I'm clicking away and take many out of focus pictures. Sometimes I move both myself and the camera and I get some fun effects.

I love palm trees and even though they won't grow here I have one which my family gave me for Christmas one year. It lights up and on winter evenings I turn it on while I'm reading.

It's fun to move the camera around and take pictures of my palm tree.

Local Bookstore

Storms, storms, storms but the local bookstore remains open for business. Well worth the drive in snowy weather.

The poinsettias at the entrance to the bookstore add to the festiveness of the season.

Books for gift giving or for a present to oneself.

Big books, small books and even medium sized books-something for everyone.

My favorite section-mysteries.

And used mysteries too.

FACE HUNTING ROUND THE WORLD

Besides being able to check my photos chronologically through the "archives" section, from now on, you can as well explore the 40+ cities I've been to from Paris to Reykjavik via Melbourne, etc... by using the section "Face Hunting Round the World" (the link is on the right side).

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Here are some more photos from last Sunday's snow storm. These were taken after it had been snowing for several hours.

Yikes, more snow.

So much snow.

One of the many private snow plows which plow people's driveways.

Taken after the sidewalk snow plow has made its first pass. Often the sidewalks are better maintained than the streets.

THE FACEHUNTER SHOW IS BACK!

I'm thrilled. After a few months of interruption, The Facehunter Show is coming back in 2009! We already shot a new episode in Sao Paulo that we hope to show you in February on a new website and from then a new city every month.

Street-hunting-wise, here's my Old Continent schedule for the next weeks:
Dec. 27- Jan. 1.: Copenhagen
Jan. 2-15 : London
Jan. 16-19 : Stockholm (ELLE Galan)
Jan. 20-21 : Barcelone (Bread & Butter)
Jan. 22-25 : Paris (Men's Fashion Week)

Yet Another Snow Storm

Guess what?? Another snow storm. I don't think the snow stopped falling from the storm yesterday but the Weather Channel people say this is another storm. Around 10 AM I decided to drive to the grocery store to buy some food and take some pictures around town. Seemed like a good idea before serious snow started to fall.

Our local supermarket. Did someone purposely leave a shopping cart there to catch the icicle when it falls.

Yummy looking regional apples. Perhaps I'll make applesauce today. Or just eat an apple as I'm out taking pictures.

This icicle was too long to photograph without standing in the street. There were too many cars going by and the road was slippery so I settled for a less dramatic looking photo.

Driving along in my car taking pictures maybe wasn't a good idea so I....

....pulled over and stopped to take this picture of our local video store.

I did stop in the road (no traffic coming in either direction, really, I looked) to snap this photo of our local insurance office.

Buildings owned by our local oil company seen through a snow covered side window of my car.

Taking pictures out a car window wasn't fun when the car started to slide-you don't take the picture you wanted.

Gray Day - Another Strom

Another snow storm yesterday afternoon and night. Today the storm is winding down. Large light snowflakes almost drift down and everything looks gray. I prefer a bright sunny day after a storm but I think there will be many more opportunities for this the way the winter is progressing.

Even without bright sunlight the trees and landscape looks pretty with newly fallen snow.

Self Portrait. My down coat while not very flattering is warm and cosy. And who cares about flattering when trudging through snow just over ones knees.

Fall pods are covered in snow which makes them look like they're wearing hats.

Let's sit and rest awhile.
