PHOTO FRIDAY - HIGH SPEED
Taken along highway 52 in San Diego California. I was sitting in the back seat.

Holga - Sky
Last week I took these photos to finish a roll of Fujichrome I wanted to have developed. When I saw the photos I thought what I enjoy about using a Holga camera is how surprised I often am at how the photos look. As I held the camera up to the sky I knew the dark ominous looking gray clouds would be very dark in the photos but was surprised at how dramatic the camera's light leak and the solarization (the white at the bottom of the pictures caused by film not being wound tightly) would make the pictures.

Southern California Living Holga
On my recent trip to San Diego I enjoyed walking around the apartment complex where I was staying and taking photos. Both the architecture and vegetation is so different from rural Vermont.
On street parking with apartment building on its side.
Fountain on top of fountain in this double exposure. There wasn't water in the fountain the day I took the picture.
A bike, shadow from the stairs and what looks the arm of a person in this run on photo.
I liked the flowers on the tree in front of an apartment building across the street from where I was staying. Also I like the colorful newspaper box on the top of this run on photo.

HOLGA - Torrey Pines - Fiery Photos
The light in the San Diego area is different from the light I'm used to taking pictures in in Vermont. Not only is San Diego located at a more southern latitude than Vermont but it's on the Pacific Ocean and is desert. These three factors combine to make the light much brighter as it reflects off both ocean and desert/sand which means there is less shadow and everything looks flat. This was my second trip using Holga cameras and I'm still learning the best way to take pictures in this area. I shot a roll of slide film which I had cross processed when developed. In Vermont I get bright blue or turquoise enhanced color with red light leaks but in San Diego everything came out fiery orange, red or purple. I think of these as my Mars or Inferno photos.
This run on photo isn't Mars but ocean, beach, dunes, chaparral and ocean again. I like the word chaparral as in Vermont we use the word shrubs which sounds nowhere as romantic as chaparral.

Looks like a shot from a Japanese monster movie but I don't see one coming out of the ocean.
