Painted Signs on Brick Buildings Holga

In many of the towns along the Hudson River advertising signs from years past can still be seen on the sides of older brick buildings. I photographed some of them once recent sunny day.

An old building in Whitehall, New York

The sign still remains but the Excelsior Bakery is long gone.

Another sign from yesteryear.

This building is in Fort Edward, New York.

Abandoned Building Holga

I was sorry to see that this building along the Champlain Canal by Lock 12 is abandoned. Over the years I've seen people who look like they may be artists living there. Both sides of the Canal in this area of Whitehall, New York are home to interesting buildings. In the summer there are a few restaurants located in the backs of the buildings along the water. It's fun to have lunch sitting by the water and watching boats go by.

I stood on the top of a snow bank and held the camera over my head to take this picture. The green in front of the building isn't the canal but the road which runs along the canal. The green color is a result of the cross processing.

The front of the building has seen better days.

The rear of the building is against a rocky hill so the side yard is enclosed at its back by what looks like a high wall.

The No Parking sign looks about to fall over.

Whimsical Afternoon with my Holga and "Friends"

Since I've been taking a lot of double exposures I thought it would be fun to add other things to the photos. My people friends were busy that day so I took along characters from one of my favorite movies, MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO.

Totoro and Chu Totoro, he's blue, trudge through the snow. The branches are from the second shot so the two didn't really have to push their way through the brambles. Chu Totoro, he's white, stayed home as I was afraid he's get lost against the snow.

In reality the branches are above them as can been seen in this photo.

Totoros and their doppelgangers or just a double exposure...

Totoro was so happy when I told him we were going. The day was sunny but the temperature was around freezing.

latest news: sharapova has a new boyfriend

Tennis hottie Maria Sharapova has a new boyfriend — Charlie Ebersol, son of NBC Sports chairman Dick. That, however, did not stop her from putting herself up for auction at the All-Star Tennis Smash charity event in New York.
Despite Sharapova’s joke that "My boyfriend will outbid you," one lucky guy won a date with the bombshell — for just $10,000. There was no sign of Charlie riding in on a white charger to take his damsel away from a blind date.
Sharapova is the richest sportswoman in the world with her photogenic face selling myriad products across continents through lucrative sponsorship deals apart from her earnings from the game.

Driving Around with my Holga

By March winter seems like its been here forever. One sunny Saturday I was feeling restless so I drove around and randomly took pictures.

Houses along the canal.

I like taking multiple exposures with the Holga.

Submerged branch in the rushing river.

The trees along the river's edge have vines growing between them.

Yes, the house has a pink side and yellow front.

Horse sculpture at a local art center.

Double exposure of horse scuplture and local art center.

Laundromats

Laundromats are fascinating to me. I find myself stopping and taking pictures of them whenever I have my Holga or Digital camera with me. If no one is inside I go in and take pictures. Dryers are my favorite. I enjoy doing my laundry at them and sometimes I set up a tripod and take pictures while my clothes are washing.

This is my favorite laundromat. I like the green effect cross processing adds to the atmosphere of the place.

Through a dryer door are more dryers.

Double exposure. Please do not sit on the folding tables.

And yes, I even took pictures of washing machines in Japan. This was easy as it's outside.

A laundromat in the Yanaka neighborhood of Tokyo.

I took these pictures with my digital camera kind of hidden inside my jacket. I felt like a weird foreigner...and I guess I probably looked like one too. I regret I didn't get to use a laundromat in Tokyo.

The Japanese dryers look pretty much like the ones at home except they're closer to the ground. I like the individual folding tables.

This laundromat was busy the day I stopped to take pictures so I didn't take any interior shots. It's very homey looking.

I like the rooster and the neon sign in this double exposure.
